NCAA ELIGIBILITY

  • in order to participate in athletic programs at a university or college, you need to work with the NCAA to meet specific coursework and athletic participation criteria.

  • it is important to begin this process right away so that you are on track for participation at the college level by the end of your junior year of high school.

  • Every potential college/university student athlete goes through the same process for determining eligibility to participate in athletic programs.

  • The process involves working closely with your coach, your school counselor, your school athletic director or administrator overseeing athletics and the NCAA Clearinghouse.

  • The information below is being provided to assist you in determining your potential eligibility status.

9th graders:

  • ask your counselor for a list of your high school’s NCAA core courses to make sure you take the right classes.

10th graders:

11th graders:

  • Check with your counselor to make sure you will graduate on time with the required number of NCAA core courses.

  • Take the ACT or SAT and submit your scores to the NCAA using code 9999.

  • At the end of the year, ask your counselor to upload your official transcript to the NCAA Eligibility Center

12th graders:

Every student-athlete must register with the NAIA Eligibility Center to play sports at an NAIA college or university.
